Hi all, thinking of spending a night or two in Co. Sligo during August and was looking at Grange as a place to stay. From searching online I see there's a restaurant there called Wheelers, anyone able to recommend it or otherwise? Cheers.

Wheelers closed suddenly months ago but Langs is good and has a courtesy car service too. Henrys in Cashelgarron, about 2-3 miles South of Grange is also worth a look.
Davis's in Drumcliffe is good too but always busy, popular with tourists and Northerners.
If you just want a chipper there is Riva in Grange which also has a Chinese "The Emperor" which is not universally popular.

Nah, I'd be looking for the chance to enjoy a nice evening out with mrs chips and have a bottle of wine to relax after riding down from the north east coast.

I tend to go for interesting food done simply but well, and am particularly fond of lamb, duck or venison, all cooked pretty rare. I also like a lot of seafood/fish/sushi etc, excluding the blander stuff like cod/whiting etc, or anything I'm likely to end up wearing more of than eating - wholetail prawns, crab claws or lobster in the shell are delicious, but too much of a fiddle! I find steak and chicken never really do it for me as they're generally too bland for my palate and usually need to be dressed up with other flavours.

Davis's Yeats Tavern has an extensive menu and always some specials on. check out the website and you find the menu online.
its true its always busy but you can ask for a nice corner table and there is a quiet pub area where you can go after your meal

Afternoon all,not much movement here in the last while.
    Was at
Kudos Bistro,Garavogue recently. Apparently it's run by a guy who was in the Bistro, and I was really impressed. A large menu that specialises in pasta, steaks and pizza, but has a very good selection. For starter I had hot and spicy chicken wings (addicted to them lately) and what I got was a good genorous portion of really nice wings. Spicy, but not spicy enough to cover the taste or make them unenjoyable.
After much debate had a 12 inch pizza(think it was called the BIG D) that had pepperoni, ham, chicken, onions and peppers on it. Had to be one of the nicest pizzas I've had in a while. Wasn't too pricy either, the pizza was around the 13 euro mark or about 10 for a 9 inch, and the wings around 6 or 7,not quite sure. The parents got a huge burger each for about a tenner and they came with the nicest chips I've had in a long while. Well worth a visit.

Was it better than robertos though

    ;)

I do actully keep meaning to try that place one day, have heard and read alot of good about it. Not really a big restrarant eater my self, maybe only on special ocassions, but would like Coach Lane and the Bistro myself, have tried the Pub Grub in the Belfry and Fiddlers a couple of times as well.

We went for lunch in Bella Vista recently. To be honest we weren't that impressed. The food was OK, but only OK and we were wedged into the smallest space, whenever one of us wanted to get up we all had to move.

That's disappointing,I enjoy their pizzas, but usually get it as a take away. What had ye?

The kids had pizzas and enjoyed them. We had my aunt and uncle over from Spain and there was only two choices of starter one was soup and one chowder. We had roasts they were just OK. The mash was lumpy and I hate lumpy mash, it reminds me of school dinners.

Had a lovely dinner in Donaghy's in the bar. Love the chicken wings in there and the steak sandwich is serious.

I love a good steak sandwich, all the better on a garlic butter ciabattia.

Had one in the Belfry Bar, but they added mayo.

I got the auld pair a gift voucher for the Ice House in Ballina on Starbelgrades recommendation.

They raved about how good it was but did say they had to top up a €100 voucher and that didn't include alcohol
