Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi,

Can anyone give me the name of a chain in the States that sells unlocked Smart Phones?

I was looking at the Radioshack website but they seem to be all contracted.

    Many thanks in advance.

    Hey,

I know Best Buy do unlocked phones, you can find them at:

    http://www.bestbuy.com

Although a couple of caveats, I'm not at all sure if they're good value prices (havent compared them in a while) and I'm pretty sure that they only do unlocked phones in-store, i.e. not for online purchases.

Have you looked at European options such as www.expansys.ie or even www.ebay.ie, I bought an unlocked XDAIIi on ebay a few years ago and it was great!

    Hope that helps,

    R.

    Thanks for the info.
The Atom Life on Expansys for €279 looks interesting.

I don't know of any major chains that will have a decent selection. Any large city will have a handful of resellers that should stock plenty of smartphones at good prices, but they can be difficult to locate (there are a bunch in NYC Chinatown, but I wouldn't have the first idea where to look in Boston or DC).

If there is a US address you can ship to, your best bet might be an online reseller like Mobilebee or Tiger Direct. Even the prices on Expansys US seem better than here.
