just wondering what people make of him, I have been listening to a bootleg of one of his shows called “Acid” I originally thought he was entirely reliant on shock value but I must admit he had me in stitches, he’s got a great talent for satirising American society, he is also very good at touching upon usually taboo subjects, for instance, I found myself welcoming his point that if child pornography is so rampant on the internet how come he’s never stumbled upon it when he’s seen just about every other form of porn imaginable.

My only criticism would be that he is from the same – but probably more Libertarian – school of thought as Bill Hicks and in my opinion the kind of ideas they put across in relation to things like drug laws just aren’t realistically achievable and therefore can’t be called good social commentary.

I think he's great. I love how he makes jokes about taboo subjects. These are often poorly received by people with strong belief systems (which is a joke in itself). The abortion jokes spring to mind... :p
It's been a while since I've watched him.

There're a good few decent clips up on youtube.

    Faithfully.

I recently got my hands on the Acid Bootleg and Deadbeat Hero recordings, and I really enjoy them. I love the work of Hicks, and Doug does have some things in common with him. I have to agree though that he does take things a little far at times, but hey, he is know for shock value!
