    UPDATE
The lovely boards admins have got back to me, and have said that they'll cover the design fee for the gear to the tune of 300 quid!

Hurrah, even cheaper gear for us :)

sweet, so there is no stopping us now

How are you going to arrange payment for the jerseys?

A paypal account would probably be handiest no? Or we could all bring along a brown paper envelope to the next meet...very shady!

I'm impressed. That's pretty damn generous.

I may go in for the shorts or something as well if they get any more subsidised.

Fair play to them. All this talk of wearing cycling gear that is actually sponsored may provide the motivation for me to cycle that little bit faster :D

To be honest, I'd prefer something that wasn't covered in sponsorship, just the boards.ie logo stuff. No offence to people offering money, but I have no particular wish to advertise for them !

Well I have no problem with whatever the majority want.
Its actually of no benefit to me to have my logo on the jersey as i dont have a website and not in the phonebook. Just thought it might look good.

Yeah fair play to the admins. I dont mind the logo. It looks pretty good and its not that intrusive. Nice to have something on the left hand side plus if it lowers the cost im all for it.

Wonder if people will beep when they see the jersey. I mean theres no other reason why someone would beep me anyway :)

Top notch design mkdon (except the celest colour scheme which I don't like). Boards.ie colour scheme is blue, no?

Bravo to boards.ie for their contribution. And sure why not have other sponsors, I'll all for supporting small businesses. I would prefer it on the back pockets than the chest though. This is all about boards.ie.

Next we'll be registering with Cycling Ireland! Then we'll be signing Contador?!!

I hear he won't be too busy this summer. Maybe he'd fancy doing a bit of pacemaking for us on the W200.

I agree with the back pocket... we could try to get 2 more sponsers for the other pockets, but I can see it being a problem with working out lowering the costs. The design fee is one off, and now covered by boards. If mkdon sponsored 135, does that mean a couple of quid saved of each jersey, or does it have to be a sliding scale depending on the garment cost... could get messy...??

Sure, I'll give shimano an email, see if they fancy sponsoring us... and maybe trek, and specialised, and... maybe the fat cyclist :)

As for registering, we'll need a team name... do we stick with boards.ie team, or go for something cooler like 'team no hope' -maybe Johan Bruyneel to help us!

    Hi,

I'm getting a racer shortly and would like to join in on these cycles when I get my fitness up.

Are these jerseys and shorts a one off or will I be able to get them again?

If not I want to buy some also.

Can you let me know the situation

    Thanks

At this moment, it's one off... but having said that, we're designing a full kit (shorts, socks, gloves etc), because it doesn't cost any more, and so we may do more runs later on -it would be a case of getting 10 people together to buy an item (minimum order) -so come next winter, we may get winter jackets etc.

Or at least that's how I see it...

To you guys saying I should get free stuff... what can I say other than thanks -we'll see what the situation is when we've decided on designs and are actually ordering, but I'll not say no :)

Yea the back pocket is fine by me! I like the new TinyExplosions Design for the Kit. Maybe a few of the same design with different colours to vote on?

I reckon the extra money raised could reduce the jersy costs, because i think everyone buying items is going to get the jersey no?

Agreed. Also agree on Tiny's free stuff. There isn't a swinging mickies hope of getting a jelly sausage out of Shimano or Trek etc. In fact you'll find they have a standard response to say "NO". You have to have proof of big time winnings, etc etc. I think you're better off at targeting local businesses for, say €200-€300, sponsorship to have their logo's on the jersey. You also have to be careful that they don't think we're a pack of freeloading langers looking for some dosh to blem about on our postman bikes. Perhaps the W200, Ireland biggest and ultimate cyclosportive (has included Sean Kelly on many occasions) may open their door a little wider. The great thing is that it's so good for them cos it's a once off payment to have their name on the jersey's indefinitely without any further payment next year or the year after etc etc... Indefinite advertising for a small fee? Not bad! If I could scrounge up €200 would you put HungryCol on it? Only kidding!!!!

I've posted a link in the design forum to prompt a few more design ideas, not least in a quality high enough to go to press.

I have no problem with putting your name on it if you had 200 quid -hell, If my company could afford it, I'd stick my logo on the damn thing too -serenos design could so with some pimping :)

Great idea uberwolf, the more designs the better. The quality isn't a huge issue, as contandor do the final designing, ensuring the quality etc, and we've the high res boards images to send them too, so we should be ok
