Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    All,
Thinking of buying one of these, my only problem is that I don't have access to Live, so which game would you recommend for single player only? Or would you recommend either of them for single player?
    Cheers.

Just to clarify, I have the first Rainbow Six and liked it. I'm talking aboot the RS 2.

    Rainbow Six
Call of Duty 4, by a country mile.

You can pick up the original Rainbow Six Vegas on the cheap now anyway, and it's a lot like the sequel: http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-b9-77-a-49-en-15-rainbow+six+vegas-70-1ivt.html

Out of interest how come you can't go online?

cod 4 in my opinion dude, its very short campaign though(7 hours) the first vegas is better game and ya should get it for 25e or so and it'll last ya bout 12-15 hours or so;)

Depends what you like. I love COD4 and played it till my eyes and ears bled but i prefer Vegas. All of the above are rite though the first one is pretty similar , the charecter options on Vegas 2 are secound to none though.

Vegas 1 or 2 for single player story mode or co-op (either split screen or
    via Live).

Well R6V co-op isn't the implemented the greatest. Having to select maps in order for story mode is stupid. No real continuation between objectives.

In saying that, great fun. Spent all last weekend playing it; trying to do Terrorist Hunt levels.

    RSV2 is crap.

    cod4 is the way forward.

Seeming your not playing online you would probably get more out of RSV2 its probably alot longer than the story in COD which is a measely 6 hours or so.

I much preferred Rainbow Six Vegas to COD4. Not played R6V2 though, it's supposed to be pretty much identical to the first one so I refuse to pay full price for it.

I completed Rsv2 coop on realistic it took me TDR ADDICT (gamer tag) about 5hours.

The game is short and ****

The graphics are like the ps2

Try doing it solo and I bet it takes you a lot longer. The last two acts are very tough on realistic.

Also apart from the story you also have the terrorist hunts which you can play lone wolf.

If you dont play on Live there is more value with R6V2 as you can still gain Xp and rank up by playing the story and terrorist hunts.

I can't play it online as I am connected here on my work connection, my appartment has no broadband.
Really not sure now, if COD4 is only 6 hours long not sure it's worth my hard earned money :/

COD4 is quite short but its brilliant.. Why not check adverts.. U should be able to pick up COD4 n RSV1 for less than the price of RSV2 new.... Started playing RSV again last night, I never tried the terrorist hunts after I finished the game... They're good crack

Playing the first Rainbow 6 now. It's fairly decent, but seems almost identical to Gears of War (Save of course for the Sci-Fi setting of GoW)
It has the cover, the squad based orders, etc.
I dunno, they almost seem like the same game to me.

For single player only on COD4, rent it from Xtravision or the like as
you'll easily finish it in 1-2 days. It's an enjoyable game with good graphics
    - especially the sniping mission "Ghillies in the mist" - but rather on the
    short side.

How are you's all saying COD4 is short? Have you completed it in 6-7 hours on veteran?

With R6V once you kill the goons, they are gone, but if you don't push forward in COD4 they'll keep coming at you!

I've finished everything on RSV 2 in two weeks and probably will never finish the Veteran difficulty on COD4!!

    Rainbow Six
RSV2 is a very good shooter

Call Of Duty 4 is an amazing shooter, finished it on veteran a month or two ago, very challenging indeed!

Dont think it's a fair comparison.

COD is like halo with no shields. Fast paced arcade-y almost. R6V2 is a slow paced tactical shooter, like old R6 games :D

I hate that aspect of COD. For me it's the FPS version of 'whack a mole'.

    I'm addicted to COD4 mp, but I'd recommend R6 for it's campaign.

I got stuck on veteran on cod4 and i jus had to give up on it, still a gr8 game tho, however Attack & Defend in Calypso Casino has me goin all the way. Plus the new team leader in RSV2 is so addictive 2:D

I agree completely. although they are both FPS, they are very different games.
