I think its about geography guys. I mean, im in drogheda, and HMV, Xtra-Vision, GameStop, CD World etc. will all be sold out i reckon (our Xtra-Vision have told me that they now know their first wave is sold out. But are accepting pre-orders for the second wave next week). However, our Argos, Smyths, Harvey Norman (Harvey is a name i havent seen people mention. they sell games, too, you know ;) ) are a little out of the way, so they'll most likely be swarmed with GTA4.

So, if you guys are really desperate to get the game, and you cant get it anywhere, just hop on a bus to the next, less-populated county. It'd probably only take you about two hours travelling and you wouldnt be moaning and complaining about it for a week. :)

so true. at the risk of inducing the ire of fellow rural dwellers - if you live out in the sticks, you've probably no need to pre-order as the nearest tesco or xtravision (assuming it's not in a major metropolis) will probably have 'em by the shedload.

Mind you, i ordered mine from the nice chaps at gamesnash (go on - gimme a discount...) just so i don't have to bother me hole going to the nearest 'big shop' on Tuesday. Now, do i tell the boss that i've got

    a) gout
    b) scarlet fever
    c) botulism

    when tuesday morning rolls around...

I live in Arklow and am counting on three things to secure my copy on Tuesday morning without a pre-order:

    1) I'm going for the PS3 version so hopefully there'll be more of them available
    2) Hopefully Arklow will be "sticks" enough that the demand won't be astronomical.
    3) I've booked the day off work and plan to be outside Zavvi at 8:50 when a large portion of the game's (underage and unofficial) target audience will be at school.

I'm quietly confident I'll be fine.

Was talking to the guy behind the counter in zavvi in Arklow today, he says they're getting in 20 PS3 and 40-50 Xbox copies and that they are all accounted for. Not sure if it's true but that's what he said at half five today.

NO.I'll time how long it takes to walk from my house into Smyths and leave at the precise time so I'll be in without having to wait outside the door but still getting in there at 9.01.:D

Hmm, interesting and worrying! I don't mind that much whether its a PS3 or 360 version that I get, so hopefully I'll be alright between Zavvi, Tesco and Xtra Vision.

    hehe,

I was walking by Symths in Blanchardstown this evening. They wore putting up posters in the windows saying:

    GTA IV
    STRICTLY 18s ONLY

I feel sorry when all the lads in my school bunking off to get it in Symths :D
