getting a second provisional after lengthy gap

    I got a provisional in 1999 to learn how to drive and did so. However, I had no means to sort out a car or insurance so I gave up on the idea and didn't sort out a test (lazy I know).

    Now I intend to sort it out and am wondering what the procedure is. I got my first provisional before you had to pass a test to get it so will I have to do one of these tests or will the fact I had one before mean I can get my second without doing so?

    As more than 5 years have elapsed since your previous licence ended you are back to square one. Apply for a theory test.
