My first build -Specs in Signiture- as far as I can see in my knowledge should be set up and ready to go. Only one IDE DVD drive and SATA hard drive is attached to start off with. I've uploaded images to my Log so maybe you can spot my flaw. The system does not do anything when I turn it on. No fans nor lights and nothing boots. I've replugged in everything and no difference. I've read the magazines, books, instruction manuals over and over again.. nothing!!

    Many thanks in advance

short circuiting.... will mean costing me money.(insert fuming here).

I'll do that so, no spare power supply.
    No onboard graphics card however

Rig is as of today off the top of my head:

    Q6600 G0
    Coolermaster R120 Mini LC
    XFX 680Mhz 512MB 9600GT
    Thermaltake Va8003BWS
    Gigabyte GA-P31-DS3l
    Crucial Ballistix Tracers 800mhz 2GB
    X-fi XtremeMusic
    Corsair 450w
    500GB Spinpoint
    IDE DVD Rewriter
    56K Modem
    Vista

Also Check the log as i am not positive everything is in the correct place

First thing to do is to stay calm, clear your head and dont panic :p

Have you checked that the Power On switch is seated correctly..

Do you have a multimeter to check is their power coming out of your psu?

Has the board got power? leds on the mb

Do you get any beeps? You need to have spare parts for swapping. I'd try the PSU first followed by the CPU.

Did you mount the motherboard without those small screws? ( speaking from experience)

I have that board and Psu...

Are you sure you have everything in the right place, that board is a b£stard if your a bit blind ( like me )...

I dont have a camera phone lol...

If you upload a few photos of the mobo to below, I cant tell you if you have or not...

No beeps.. Looks like a dead mobo or psu. I will take a multimeter to it.. Ill try the screws too.. I dont understand about missing screws? Im pretty sure I fitted 7 screws anyway.no power to MB

Yes of course you do, I didn't use dome top screws like in the picture though as they didn't fit.

If you have no multimeter connect the green and black wires on your psu with a wire or paperclip or something .To be honest i'd say you just connected the wires for the power led power hdd etc wrong ;)
    Check the diagram again

Loosened screws. Took out all parts and put them back. nothing!!

To be honest i'd say you just connected the wires for the power led power hdd etc wrong

    I think so too:

Check the log above and i'll post a chart of what i put where later

Just face the writting on the pins toward the case.
+ and minus should be on them anyway.

  • Registered Users Posts: 595 ✭✭✭toco123

What you mean towards the case! The case has 6 sides for heeavens sake! upwards you mean, yes? can't see a + or -

On this photo you said as a title "I guessed where these go".
Find the motherboard manual and follow the instructions on where they go.

I assume you fit the wires towards the closet side of the case 1 inch away.
Just use the pwr sw and change where it goes if you can't be bothered reading the manual ;)
Manuals come in handy for that sort of thing toco

  • Registered Users Posts: 595 ✭✭✭toco123

I read the manual!! it was very UNhelpful in this area!! None of the manuals were for this. The Case told you where to put them but the motherboard manual doesn't say where they were. I'll check again. And its upwards they go, yes?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 852 ✭✭✭blackgold>>

Lol think about it for a second .I know your heads wrecked haha :)
How would the case manual know where they go? Your manual has to have some sort of label or even a small bit of paper with a diagram on it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 595 ✭✭✭toco123

I'll just test them every direction every space... is that any harm? I think they are in the right places according to the Gigabyte manual!?

Sorry just scanned the thread, but have you got this board working ouside the case - with just mobo, PSU, and CPU?

  • Registered Users Posts: 595 ✭✭✭toco123

no its inside a case!! Dudes check the log again :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

i'll tell you if i have any more probs!!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,757 ✭✭✭Deliverance XXV

I think he meant did you try it on it's own outside the case without all the bells and whistles?

  • Registered Users Posts: 397 ✭✭Design_Dude

Yea, just try the mobo with ram and cpu, psu and monitor, outside of the case. Dont bother with the cooler yet either. That should work

The atx switch, power led, case speaker & hd led connections have little marks on them indicating positive, recheck them with your manual diagram.

Are you getting lights? Are the fans spinning?

  • Registered Users Posts: 595 ✭✭✭toco123

DID NOBODY CHECK THE LOG LIKE I ASKED!!!!

Guys the things are spinning. Theres now lights everywhere! My connections have no plus or minus. It now looks like las vegas in there since I reconnected the POWER SW. My current problem is im not getting feedback from my monitor!! Squall20... will a hi res picture do?
