    hi there

plan on buidling soon, max 1400euro, used for some gaming, FPS(crysis and COD4, bioshock are the ones i want to be able to play at a good framerate), photoshop and for watching tv series that i have downloaded. Want to have a good screen 24', would love the 9800gx2 graphic card but too costly for me at the moment. Not too interested in overclocking as i don't really understand it. Was going to try and build it myself.

all the components are from www1.hardwareversand.de and I want to make sure everything will fit together and match my requirments

Lose the soundcard, Creative are rubbish and on board sound is great..

Drop the cpu cooler if your not going to do serious overclocking...

Case is nice, but very expensive...

This a quiet case, with good cooling

    http://www2.hardwareversand.de/3/articledetail.jsp?aid=7687&agid=632 €85

Motherboard is ok, but sli is a bit awkward with it as second pci express slot is only x4 speed ( looking for x8/x16 )

This motherboard is faster and has two x16 pci express slots...

    http://www2.hardwareversand.de/3/articledetail.jsp?aid=18310&agid=659 €68

    Wifi

    http://www2.hardwareversand.de/3/articledetail.jsp?aid=7252&agid=207 €20

€165 spared can go towards 2 x 8800gt, those will perform roughly the same as a 9800gx2....

    http://www2.hardwareversand.de/3/articledetail.jsp?aid=18726&agid=554 €158 each

thanks for that Squall20 good advice as I a little lost on the motherboards/overclocking/cooling options, infact a lot of things to do with computers, lol.

I wasn't sure on the sli route but your option looks tempting.

Will read up on the case, looks good again but want to read some reviews. The cosmo was the first case i saw that just really took my fancy, although it is expensive and the cooling isn't meant to be great, I just really like the bullet proof build.

I will post back again when I have updated my selection,

Onboard audio is often rubbish- I have a creative audigy and the sound is much much better than onboard

Also go for a Corsair PSU...much more reliable

Rubbish, onboard may be good enough for music but no comparrison really for gaming. No way I'm ever goin back to onboard for gaming. Once you go X-fi you'll never go back. Explosions & gunfire etc sound so realistic. Also worth noting that my X-fi is on its 3rd motherboard.

Rubbish is too strong a word, sorry..

On board has come a long way and I find it perfectly fine for gaming, great sound with decent speakers...

I have used that Gigabyte mobo I linked Real_484 to and sound is top notch imo...

I think getting a sound card is a luxury item now, and should come after you have the core components set...

A single 8800gts for 1920 by 1200 isnt ideal imo and thats why I said get rid of it...

At that res Sli or a 9800gx2 is needed imo for Crysis and future games...

Check reviews of this - IIRC one of OCZ's Stealth PSU wasn't stealthy at all

Good price - but like others say it's likely that it won't be able to impressively run new games at the 24" native 1900 x 1200 resolution.

the newer Samsung Spinpoint F1 1TB with 32mb cache can be had for €132. Samsung Spinpoint F1 750GB is going for €90.

There has been a revised ("rev. B") version of this cooler released - hardwareversand don't mention what version this one is. I went with the Xigmatek HDT-S1283 based on this.

Change the psu to this one, it has 4x 8pin connectors (well 4x6pin with the 8pin connectors) that you need for some gpu's in the future. The 9800gx2 and 3870x2 require both 6pin and 8pin connectors. Would futureproof your choice of psu for future gpu upgrades. Only downfall is that its not modular.

Stock cooler is fine if your not overclocking. No mention of it on their listing tho. It usually comes with boxed version of cpu.
