Is my system dying?

I've been having problems with my system recently, on start up I'm getting this black screen displaying "Your system is not performing correctly" that my E IDE drive is causing problems.

What I find lately when my pc is on I sometimes hear this sound like it's going to power down but yet it seems to kick back in and it just keeps going like that.

Is there something I can do here?

    Any help much appreciated

Your hard drive must be 100 years old :)
    Get a new one maybe?

Save all your data and replace the HDD.

before you replace it try format and see how it gets on. no harm in trying that first
