try this page - it seems to have some good stuff near the bottom:

    http://www.netopia.com/support/hardware/technotes/CQG_100.html

and this seems to be a good general page:

    http://www.netopia.com/support/hardware/3341.html

What you're really after is the command list for telnet to get web interface back on air...

surely if you reset it as per:

    http://www.netopia.com/support/hardware/technotes/CQG_102.html

you will then have web access to it?

    http://192.168.1.254...

youd thunk it wouldnt you but no, no config settings in the unit, dont know and cant find anywhere what they should be, and nope even the reccomended method says big fat no??? im lost on this one followed all instructions i can find an i still cant get the web interface back up
which is all i need, if i browse to 192.168.1.254 it says bad request? i dunno shall i use it as a door stop i can telnet the unit though and all the bts seem to be there so i think its not a firmware prob

forgive me for saying this but youve checked:

your pc has an ip address in the same subnet and with the same netmask as the router?

you dont have any funky web proxy configs?

also - sth that occured to me - sometimes web config is on different ports to 80, the standard http port. have you tried:

    http://192.168.1.254:81 or 82 or 8000 or 8080?

ip an subnet all match no funky bits i have another dsl modem an a wireless router an all of them i can reach fine, when all else is disconnected i stilll can only terlnet to device, i know its a setting just dont know how to get it to change or where it is ya know and it did work so i know its there short of a hardware failure i dont know, but as i can telnet the device i dont think thats the case and yeas should be on port 80 thats what it says when you do configure >> script says web-http: 80

    i've found this guide:

    http://www.netopia.com/support/hardware/manuals/CLI/CLI_411-54-84.pdf

and on page 20 theres some commands about enabling the web server...

failing that - there seems to be a couple of different types of resets command you could try...

system web-server enable { yes | no } appears in the cli reference manual and would appear to be the command i want however it says
supported beginning with Firmware Version 8.2. i have 7.1.4 so my question is whats this commands predasessor relating to 7.1.4?

ok i have the unit connected and have broadband connection up so now its just down to gettin the web inferface up??? any ideas?

first off - the manual's here:

    http://www.netopia.com/support/hardware/documentation.html

what i'd say is try to connect from the outside-in as it were - instead of trying to connect your web interface from the 192.168.1.254 address - connect using your internet ip - whatismyip.com will tell you...

if that doesn't work - try the shields up scan at grc.com - it will tell you if your router has its web interface at a different port to port 80

    ok
    1. been through the manual and thats a dead end... the menu system they show there i dont even get that i only get the cli interface.

    2. 192.168.1.254 is defo the unit ip same as the gateway as thats the address i telnet to.

    3. when trying to access from outside in to the web admin i get a bad request error

    4. if i setup a pinhole throught the router to my pc ie xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (external ip) port 80 and send it to xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx(internal ip) port 80 ie can get to my webserver, great

5 when doing the above setup and saving the config i get the blah cant save as your web server on the router is on port 80, so i changed it to 91 just to check the above saved and the above worked
i can only assume the unit has a fault as when i remove the pinhole and reset the web server on the router to 80 once again ... surprise surprise.. diddly really should be working by this stage as i can see no reason other than there being a setting like the set system web-server enable yes which doesnt seem to exist on firmware 7.1.4 mmmm nutty one alright shame theres no smiliey for dropkicking the unit in to orbit!

i suppose your best bet is to either factory reset it in the hope that it fixes your prob, or ignore the prob altogether and update the firmware. is there a way to update the firmware fromt elnet? probably using TFTP i would imagine...
