Wednesday night basketball

All,

We had a few weeks of basketball last year and it went well, despite the poor weather on a couple of nights.

Now that the evenings are getting longer and the weather is getting better(ish), maybe it's time to resume our efforts?

Post up here if you're interested in getting involved.

Any standard welcome, male or female. It's a social event and we only play for about an hour.

Depending on numbers, we'll try get it off the ground for next Wednesday 16th April. Same as last time, we'll be playing up at Charlesland Sports Center.

Last time round we played 20:30 to 21:30, but we might bring it forward to 20:00 depending on availability of the court and/or players.

Hi Mike,

Been out due to ankle injury picked up whilst skiing in Feb. Should be OK now.

Will be back on for wednesday nights, but can't make this week due to work comittments.

Would prefer a late spot, any time on or after 8.30pm is good for me.

Hope to get back in to "action" soon.

Okay.

Dave has come back to say he has three interested, there's myself, Eoin, MuffinsDa, Kristen +1, Ginger Dave +3 & Ciaran (welcome to boards, btw).

I think that's a good start. We may even get a full court game out of this.

I've asked Dave to book the court from 9pm - 10pm next Wednesday, 23rd April and we'll see how we go from there to determine if we block book the court for future weeks.

Dave, can you post up how much it costs? If I recall correctly it was €20 for the court per hour?

Remember, it's just a social bit of fun and the level isn't too hot. Don't take it too seriously! Who knows, we might even get a drink afterwards to "rehydrate".

I have booked the court for 9-10pm Wed 23rd April. It will cost €20.

Where's the court? At the complex besides JS?
What kind of surface does it have?

Hi Muffinsda,

Yes its the court up at JS, its behind the football pitches, next to the tennis courts.

I wouldn't know the technical term of the surface but from what i remember its ok, even when damp. So i guess no slip might be a term.....

The surface is a bit like the old type of astroturf (you know the sort that would leave your knees in ribbons), but it's grippy and the ball bounces on it as it would on a blacktop.

Great turnout tonight and great fun too!

Hopefully we'll get a couple more out so that we can sub in and out. An hour is a long time to run up and down the court with no subs!

Yep i'll be there, it was a good laugh and a good run around.....me legs are killing me this morning, sooooooooo unfit.

Colin can't make it next week he is on hols, but maybe Damo will be around?
If anyone else can drag anyone else up then that would be great.

I'll book the court on Monday.

Yeah it was great fun, especially in the chemist today asking for finger splints
don't think it'll be healed by next Thursday, will know early next week anyway.
