Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Thursday, 10 April 2008
    UEFA Cup
Getafe 3-3 Bayern Munich (agg 4-4) (After Extra Time, Bayern Munich win on Away Goals Rule)
    PSV 0-2 Fiorentina (agg 1-3)
    Sporting 0-2 Rangers (agg 0-2)
Zenit St Petersburg 0-1 Bayer Leverkusen (agg 4-2)

Seemingly bayern jammied it vs Getafeck :( , but rangers well ****ing done, superb away win using "anti" football. 2nd goal they got was very nice.

/altho much like the FA Cup semis last weekend no "football fans" on boards.ie give a ****e about football their club not in, odd that.

Not really tbh. Watching the highlights and they pretty much had all of the running and chances. 2 disallowed goals too. Scored very late in extra time but sure isnt that the mark of the great teams. :)

what next, no interest in who wins the J.league???

Bayern didnt play well at all tonight, last minute equaliser playing against 10 men since 7th minute.
Then two goals in the last five minutes of extra time.
Sometimes you have to win ugly though.
The diving and acting from some of the Getafe players was terrible, glad they're gone.

dunno i dont claim to support any teams that play in the JFA.

And hail the JFA as the greatest ever.

getafeck should have had the game wrapped up, last 2 goals were schoolboy ****.

Rangers-Bayern final, Bayern to win. If it is a Rangers Bayern final, I'll watch it. Be nice to see a British team in there...

Walter Smith deserves a lot of credit for what he's done at the club. Quadruple still on.

Getafe Bayern was the game of the season. Getafe were the better side over two legs for sure.

    Rangers were excellent last night.
Really sharp passing and covering. Deserved to win.

Smith and McCoist have taken team to a new level.
They have a realistic chance of getting past Fiorentina.

Watched extra time of Bayern game. Incredible match.
Goalscoring hero Luca Toni is a diver.
Had to feel for the Getafe players.
    They were gutted.

4 goals in extra time, I dont think Ive ever seen that in a football match. :) Great stuff.

Id say th Getafe players went nuts on their keeper. Cruising to victory with a 2 goal cushion and only 7 or so mins to play, and he may as well have just given the ball to Toni to put the pressure on. Getafe should probably have punished Munich with another in extra time, they had a few very promising breaks they could have done better with. After the keeper gifted that goal there just seemed an inevitability Bayern would steal it.

Makes a mockery of the away goals rule when extra-time goals count double.

Definitely, gives an unfair advantage to the team playing their away game second. Away goals should be done away with once 90 minutes is over. I heard things about this happening a few years back, but it obviously never materialised.

    Well done to Rangers.

Yeah, no away goals in ET, it's not fair.

In fairness, though, the home team has an advantage if it goes to extra time.

Agreed. Stupid ruling. Its even more perplexing in the Carling Cup, where away goals only ocunt after extra time.

The advantage of playing an extra 30 minutes at home is nothing compared to the advantage of having an away goal in extra time.

Basically they've played 180 minutes, all is even. 30 minute match decides the tie, however one teams goals count double the other? It's bullsh*t tbh.

Talk to UEFA! That's the theory... if you have to play an extra half hour at , say Anfield or Old Trafford, as an away team, you're definitely conceding the advantage.

Well well well....who'd have thunk it eh?

I thought Rangers were fantastic last night, Walters tactics were spot on and the team carried them out perfectly.

Whittaker beating 4 men to slot the ball in the net as Rangers headed for a european semi final is something i cant say i ever thought id see!

Not too confident about Fiorentina though, we have a horrible record against italian opposition.

Im hoping Zenit can win this, they've already beaten a big german team in Leverkusen (well they destroyed them in the first game) and also the marseille result was great. They have been great to watch i think, hope they go on and win it...
