Does anybody know in if computer services
stores information on staff usage of the internet.

Im told that a log is kept on all sites visited, time spent on line and
all material down loaded by staff or pcs in thier name.

This data could then be used against them if they have a labour
    problems or staff disputes.

Can this be true? Does anybody know the situation?

Unlikely to be true given the network structure. The proxies (Squid) do keep logs, but the staff VLAN doesn't necessairly have to go through them. The proxies also don't capture your Novell username.
