So I got a new board but the cpu cooler is spinning way faster than it did with the old board, i know you can get fan controllers but i only want to slow down one fan, is there a simple switch or something that i could buy

You can do it in the bios and set it to ramp according to temperatures. I've done it before. Check what your bios records as your idle temp, use it as the base, compare it to coretemp and set the fans accordingly in the bios. Will take a little bit of trial & error to get it to your liking.
