Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Accountant in Cork

My brother runs a small building firm in Bandon, I've been helping him out on the admin side but he really needs to get an accountant in for a couple of days a month.

Are any of the accountancy firms interested in this type of work or would it be easier to try and hire a 'bookkeeper' full-time who could also take over office admin to fill their time.

Has anyone experience of these types of arrangements? He's looking for my advice and I can't figure out which way to go.

accountancy firms will always welcome more work so it would be fine to use a firm. Stick to a small/medium one as I think you would get more personal service.

Although from the sound of it it seems you could do with a book keeper/ office worker. You wouldn't get a qualified accountant but certainly someone who has worked in offices who was exposed to basic book keeping.

There's not much difference between a good bookeeper and an accountant.

I'd go for a bookeeper. I work in a practice and we have similar arrangements with clients but it's not ideal, alot of toing and froing.
