    http://www.rte.ie/business/2008/0411/waterford.html

Sir Anto looking for a Gov gtee for 39 million.

A dangerous precedent if ever I saw one,
    particularly when you read
<<In a statement released this evening, Waterford Wedgwood thanked unions for their support on the matter.>>

I think this is nuts, why not subsidise the fishing/building/maufacturing industries which need help?

dangerous precedent is right. Why waterford crystal and not other businesses?

If the name Waterford Wedgwood can't secure a loan then its time to close shop. WW has been in terminal decline for more years than I care to remember at this stage.

Promising to pay back the loan does'nt mean it should be given.

    Mike.
