Hi there,

Already posted this in the Live Music section but it might be of interest to some of you Kilkenny-ers.

Cheers.

Problems at the Pancake House Presents
A Night of Popular Records:

Friday, 25th of April sees a host of Popular music gracing the stage of Cleere’s Theatre as Adebisi Shank and Marvins Revolt, who are both part of independent Irish D.I.Y. label Popular Records, play the Problems at the Pancake House night.

Marvins Revolt:

Marvins Revolt are three-piece progressive indie/pop band from Copenhagen, Denmark.

Marvins Revolt started out as a quartet in 2002 and released their first self titled record in 2004. It was noisy and aggressive. They played
shows in just about every town in Denmark and the music developed into the more complex sound of their debut album,
Fell in Love with Tanks & Satellites, released in 2006. In late 2006 the band parted ways with their vocalist and reformed as a trio. Music wise the reformation resulted in a less noisy, more complex but yet more melodic approach,
and Killec is the fresh and exciting sound of a new-born collective. Killec is released by Popular Records. Marvins Revolt have completed a tour of Europe recently and are embarking on their second tour now. They are known for their frantic and energetic live shows in which they are joined by an extra band member.

'Times Will Change' raises the bar some more, making Marvins Revolt
not just an amazing Scandinavian pop band, but one of the best bands of
the year.
- Die Shellsuit, Die! (UK)

Marvins Revolt, today a three-piece, have created a very exciting
album, completely forging its own musical path. A progressive little
delicacy.
- Diskant (DK)

They've taken that noiserock/post-punk they were doing and taken way
further out into prog territory. More notes, more starts, more stops,
and yes, more better.
– it's a trap! (US)

Described as "experimental indie" , this label certainly applies
here but like other Popular artists such as Adebisi Shank and The Vinny
Club have an insane ear for making addictive noisy tunes.
It's an impressive release...
- Nialler9.com (Ire)

Martin Niemann - Drums
Klaus Peter Nielsen - Bass, Vocals
Søren Holst Frøkiær Thuesen - Guitar, Vocals

Adebisi Shank:
Adebisi-Shank-Bristol-.jpg
Adebisi Shank are an instrumental math-rock/post-rock/really good band from Wexford.

Adebisi Shank are three people from Wexford who make a loud noise called ROCK MUSIC. They are nice boys who you could take home to your mammy without any cause for worry. Formed just over a year ago, the group recorded their début E.P. in early 2007, toured the U.K. and Europe in late 2007 and plan to record their first album in mid 2008 with legendary independent producer J. Robbins. Mick and Lar are also in a band called Terrordactyl (http://www.myspace.com/thedactyls). Vinny makes bleeps and bloops in his bedroom and calls it The Vinny Club http://www.myspace.com/thevinnyclub). All three help run Popular Records.

"Very interesting, Adebisi Shank....very post-modern EP....Very Good" - Tom Dunne (Today FM)

"It's the sound of three musicians testing each other's limits, whilst
somehow keeping it on the right side of listenability. Absolutely
superb."
- collective-zine.co.uk

"Musically manages to skirt every cliche in the book and head
out into the clear waters of genius."
- InDublin magazine (4 Stars)

"Adebisi are more than just spazz rock - the level of feeling
they inject into every tune shows a depth their peers sorely lack."
- Nialler9.com (Irish EP of the year 2007)

"Some of the finest and most explosive post rock i have had the pleasure to
listen to in quite some time" - Road Records (Single of the week)

Mick - Drums
Lar - Guitar
Vin - Bass
