I tried something new today :)

These are opalite plugs (synthetic opal, a kind of glass):

    opalite.jpg

Nice but a little boring and meh. I've only worn them once or twice.

    opalite-ear.jpg

Let's make them more interesting, by placing them in the oven for twenty minutes at 250 degrees celsius, then drop them into a bowl of iced water...

    fried2.jpg

Ooh! Some sparkly cracks. But still meh, so let's give it one more go:

    fried1.jpg

Yaaaaay! (It was dark at this stage)

Now they're full of crackles and they sparkle. Yay for fried glass!
Sorry to quote such a far back post, but that was so awesome.

How do they look in and under normal light?

just get organic plugs, wood, bone etc
anything that is porous so it will absorb the sebum

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 146 ✭✭pe-cze

I just cant wear them coz my ears err are swollen when i have wood O_o. Strange.
But u know, its not too bad, just washin and its ok.

As a matter of interest do you know which wood you had in your ears? some types are very acidic and aren't suitable for ears.

I tried the snakewood and coconutwood ones.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 19,183 ✭✭✭✭Will

Well from a lil bit of research snakewood looks to be a bit potent, http://www.himalayahealthcare.com/herbfinder/h_strychnous.htm#toxicology

dunno how true that is, couldn't find crap about the coconut wood.

I usually go by the woods on this site here; http://paulsplugs.com/woods.html

I have a document at home which is pretty comprehensive which i will do my best to find later

    Coconut/ Red Palm "COCOS NUCIFERA"

Red Palm better known as Coconut is a highly decorative wood with a very distinct look. Very light in weight with highly decorative grains, this wood finishes well and withstands the test of time.
Country of Origin: Myanmar (Southeast Asia)

If u could find that doc it will be great ;*
