    Hi,

I have a knee injury (ITBS for those who care) but am booked on a cycling trip down the east coast of the states (trip booked before i injured my knee).

I thought the injury would die down if i gave it some time off but thats not happening, its still sore. so i'm looking into other options. a bit of google research has lead me to looking into recumbent bikes. how are these for knees? easy to cycle or takes more skill than it looks? what are they like for long distances versus the standard bike?

A recumbent is very easy to ride - you'd get used to it in a few minutes. I don't see how it would be easier on your knees though - if anything you can push harder on the pedals since you're pushing back against the seat.

They're pretty comfortable but you are stuck in the same position all day - you can move about a bit more on a regular bike. They're also heavier, attract a lot more attention and pretty hard to transport (e.g. by bus or plane).

Have you been treated by a decent physiotherapist / sports therapist?

went to one physio for a few weeks but i was showing no signs of improvement. i injured my knee training for a marathon and am seeing a knee specialist on april 28 so hoping i might get some good news or amazing miracle cure advice sooner rather than later.
