I know this is a recurring post but unfortunately it needs to be.

The council are gettin major grief from some Rathdown residents (these residents are the same people who didn't want a skatepark in their neighbourhood)
Apart from people actin da b*llix when the parkies come to lock up in the evenin, there is now a problem with folks climbin over the fence to get the after-hours roll.

I know that its frustratin when ya might've just finished school/college/work & the skatepark isn't open as long as we'd all like. It was agreed a long time ago that the skatepark would operate within the opening hours of Bushy park. Unfortunately the local residents are taking notes on these 'disturbances' & they will attempt to use them to their advantage.
(This is worrying as they are monied folks - lots of retired solicitors, etc)

Its come to the stage where the council are now looking for ways to keep people out after-hours.
They don't want to have to do this, but there doesn't seem to be an alternative. There's even been talk of them installing some electronic sensors/alarms, etc.
Eventually the cops will be involved & thats the last thing we need.

    What do yiz reckon?

i reckon some heads need to cop on big time.

that or just get their names and make sure they(and not the skaters with RESPECT) are dealt with.

More parks in the area, not as close to houses?
would strick me as an obvious soloution.

There was talk of one in tallaght, but i havent heard anything of it since. and that was about two years ago, i'll get back to the council about that though.

Unfortunately Cian its not the location thats the problem, its the clowns who don't accept the fact that there are rules involved.

In an ideal world all parks would be 24 hours/no fencing/lights for after-dark. We don't live in an ideal world, & its actually miraculous that we ever got Bushy as a location in the 1st place (due to all the objections from certain residents) As well as that, the park is FREE (unlike that crap in Monkstown for example) Even with all the good things we've got goin, there are some morons out there who almost go out of their way to mess it up.

Some people are just selfish - in fact the people breakin into Bushy (& the other gobsh*tes who've been drinkin there lately) are just as bad as the aulwans who didn't want a skatepark in "Their park"

Most of us have a brain & are willing to use it.
See ya in da deep end :)

PS: Last I heard there are 2 parks planned for Jobstown & Clondalkin - early stages tho....don't think they've got as far as plans yet

    Hi John,
i was there a couple of weeks ago and some guy was boasting about how he was skating since 9am, before the park opened! A$$hole. Anyway, the general attitude of younger kids up there for example leaves a lot to be desired. A lot of them think they are untouchable. I said this before on these boards but if i was their age i'd hit em a smack. Not the best solution I know, but when you have a guy who is 10 years of age on a bmx saying to me(in my 30's) all skateboarders are dicks/f*gg*ts/a$$holes, i just wanna shake 'em really hard, and see does he bounce in the deep-end.
Compare that to the attitude of kids in Greystones, who are so much more mellow and cool. And dont mind having a chat! It seems that alot of the kids in Bushy are there to prove something, don't know what but there is a definate air of we are cool/untouchable/the best. FFS, most of the kids are from comfortable middle class backgrounds!

Its almost like pissin into the wind as trying to talk to some of these brats. Thats all they are. Little jumped up snotty nosed kids. maybe they should start charging in. At least then you could have a guy who sweeps etc. Not an ideal situation but it would stop all this b*ll****. I dont want that to happen either.
Anyway, its raining out and I'm ranting
    Later
    Ken

Now most of that rant was uncalled for, i skate with alot of the younger skaters up in bushy, and i know them well enough to know that none of them would start fights or shout abuse at older people.
And they talk to older skaters alot and comment on when they get a trick down nice.
Maybe there are on or two little eejits down there, i could name a few myself, but i wont. as it is not on to give across the impression that every one down in bushy park is just out to start trouble.

Sorry if that was the impression that came across. We all know that most of the peeps in Bushy are cool, its just the small few that make it difficult for the rest of us, as you know.
But take for example closing time, how many people just up and leave when asked? Eh? not many, they have to be herded out like cattle FFS.
Its such a shame cos the parkies get grief, which winds them up and then they are more belligerent towards anyone. How many times have we all heard "just 1 more go"... NO! the park is closed ...get the f**k out!
People worked long and hard to get this park and then people abuse the park, its attendants, its rules , so can you blame me for ranting?
PS: How many people actually wear helmets?

Yup, most people are cool - there are some clowns tho.
I recently escorted an idiot outta the park...shouldn't be necessary.
The latest genius move I witnessed was by some of our local 'artists' doin a piece in the 'middle bowl' WITH CHROME PAINT!!!
It partially rubs off onto your wheels & leaves the surface like its covered in chalk.:mad::mad:

It'd be great if people would just skate (or ride their bikes) in the skatepark & leave all the other bullsh*t at the door.

If anybody's interested there's a meetin takin place next month for all 'park users'. Details below:

    Hello All,
