Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Saw a great replay of it from behind the goals, very funny.

ah certainly not the first time i've seen that sly tactic. mind you, i think i saw a Birmingham player doing that at the weekend aswell, might have been for Zarate's free kick?

I'm surprised Lehmann didn't go and clout him. He's not the most balanced and rational of individuals. It was a lovely finish from Hargreaves though as much as it pains me to say it.

its nothing new having players do that, and it makes perfect sense

stand in the way of the ball so the keeper cant see it and then move around like a loon so that when its kicked the keeper sees it late

Andy Gray mentioned that Lehmann gets booked more than any other goalkeeper he has ever seen. And its so true, he is so easily wound up.

Noticed this during the match. Just served to increase my love for him. World Player of the Year within 5 years at OT folks.

One of the Arsenal players should have blocked Anderson's path.

And then another should have blocked them ? This has potential...

but all anderson was trying to do was distract Lehman and get in his line-of-sight. An Arsenal player blacking him would have just made things worse for Lehman.

These free-kicks, nearly straight on from 24 yards out, are hard to defend against. Andersen was not a major factor in the goal, although Lehman did take a long time to set himself up and be ready. Also, look at Lehman's body language, he was sauntering around, not exactly a livewire ready to spring into action and make a brilliant save. He was dopey and partly/mainly culpable, although it was well dispatched.

Free-kicks from these positions means that the wall essentially blinds the keeper up to 14 yards out. In other words, its nearly like a penalty. So attacking teams put more players into the wall area, blinding the sight of the goalie further.

Hargreaves provided the curler option, ala Beckham. C.Ronaldo provided his up and over dipping technique as an option where he hits it straight on and with pace and dip. This technique is harder to execute the closer you get to the goal. Lehman was to the right of the centre of the goal, some goalies would stay in the centre. Another option for Arsenal would be to put a defender on each post, certainly the short side post.

    A well executed free-kick overall.

a tracker backer to the post right before kick was taken, to avoid cluster in box in front of keeper
