Sweetest thing but I also like Vertigo (ducks)

If we're allowing mainstream, Where The Streets Have No Name and Sunday Bloody Sunday. Of their lesser known songs, it'd have to be Bad.

My favourite albums are The Joshua Tree and Rattle and Hum. Both are awesome to listen to!

Guys - four words - Hands that built America

Actually, that one is my absolute favorite (love the scene it's on in gangs of new york - very underrated movie), but also love kite with a passion.

If you like U2, you should pick up the book U2 by U2 (reduced to about €5 in places). Each chapter focuses on each album & if you listen to the albums while going through it it'll really give you an insight into the music & a new appreciation of the older albums.

No mention of "Starring at the Sun" or "Kite". Both would easily get in my top ten...

Picking one U2 song is impossible. There are so many gems by them over the years - some of which I have not heard in quite some time. Then, each day my favourite would change.

All I can say is that the following are in the shake-up:
I Will Follow, Out of Control, Electric Co (all from Boy),
11 O'Clock Tick Tock (Single, and I think it was on October),
Bullet the Blue Sky (The Joshua Tree),
Bad (A Sort of Homecoming - EP),
The Unforgettable File, MLK (The Unforgettable Fire),
Spanish Eyes - a b/side from The Joshua Tree era,
    Zoostation (Achtung Baby)

    Out of Control
    New Years Day
    Origin of the Species
    Pride
    In a little While

But probably New Years Day for me

As you can see from the list, I prefer the older and more obscure stuff!

    An Cat Dubh/Into the Heart
    Out of Control
    A Day without me
    Surrender
    Like a song
    October
    Running to Stand Still
    All I want is you
    The Three Sunrises
    Bullet the Blue Sky

    Stay (Faraway, So Close!)

    Best U2 song ever.

For those of you interested in the older stuff. The first three albums are being re-released On July 21st (most probably at a premium price), with the full Joshua Tree special edition treatment, remastered & second disk with b-sides, not quite made its & rarities.

Would have preferred to have seen (heard) Rattle & Hum, Unforgettable Fire & Pop but there ya go, I'm sure they'll be along next year...

What was the headline the other day - €630m for last year with no tour & nothing released was it ???

Agree about "A Celebration" strange how it never appeared on any album.

I have to say their best song is "With or Without you" - live on the Rattle & Hum DVD.

    I think there's a story behind A Celebration but I can't remember it.

It did appear on CD - in 1999.

On a Now That's What I Call Music 1982 compilation.

The b-side of the 7" is Trash, Trampoline And The Party Girl.

I could never understand why U2 refused to include any of the non-album singles on two compilation albums.

There was a market for the real fans to be able to pick up a limited release of all the early stuff on CD as well as the mass market "18"

On the 1984 cassette release of the Pride single, A Celebration did appear as a bonus track.
