    http://kotaku.com/379931/rock-band-europe-to-see-price-retraction-tomorrow

Interesting if true, we'll find out tomorrow...
File it under mega rumor, but Akihabara Blue is claiming that the Spanish media is very much in the know (but under embargo) that EA will be reducing Rock Band Europe's projected price to 169 € (down from 240 €)—a metric that would offer a 1:1ish dollar to euro conversion to ease the purchase a bit.

In other words, Europeans would no longer be paying the equivalent of $378 (USD), but something closer to $267 (USD) instead. We have no clue whether or not this is true, but we do know that it's a good idea, regardless.

LOL if this is true. What of the cost of exporting and other such crap that was spouted last week.

    Providing that this is true...

    Internet - 1
    EA - 0

    :D

This could turn out to be a great piece of marketing from EA. You've got a game that's obviously a different package to what people are used to and it has a potential €169 price-tag that will put many people off. So how do you make that price seem smaller than it is? Easy, announce that the price will be €240 to outcry from pretty much all gamers and potential customers, before later announcing that the actual price will be much smaller.

It masks the fact that they're still charging € to $ for the game and gamers will be almost grateful to pay a high price tag for the game.

Yep, I called it last week. Internet-wide indignation, nobody buys at the first price. Drop it by €60 or €70 and everyone who complained goes out and buys. Instant hit.

It is actually appearing that EA just have very shrewd and risky marketers. It was the same with the BF: BC 'premium' weapons: they announce they are going to sell weapons as DLC, gaming community goes bat **** insane for a while, EA giggle, remove paid pricing BUT force people to fill out a 'sponsor' / marketing survey in return for the weapons - they still get paid. and the fact that they are "free" (emphasis on the "") means more people will fill out the questionnaire for them.

Same case here: they know people are going to go mad over the 240 euro, but build up all the hype, and still charge us considerably more than the Americans (if it is true of course, no confirmation as of yet).

So EA get good publicity by reversing their big corporate decisions, but in reality they get their money anyway.
    Apologies for the cynicism.

Interesting to see how this turns out. Dunno what to make of it just yet.

Must have missed it but where does it say we'll find out tomorrow?

    {EDIT} /BangHeadOnDesk (It's in the title)

I want this to be true more than anybody. My friends sometimes mock my infatuation with GH and Rock Band...

But is it likely, considering how much defence of the price there has been already.

Another way of looking at it is this however: (not positive on this) EA never came out and commented on the price, wasn't it all HMX employees doing that?? meh...

Crosses fingers for €170 price tag and the instant buy it would make it!
