If you can extend the budget to about €200,

    Sennheiser HD 25

    Just amazing

On the go or at home,on ear or in ear, isolation no isolation, your music preferences etc?

I strongly recommend you stay well clear of bose.

I like using sennheiser ear phones, but the stress i put them through means they don't last very long, starts off with either the left or right cutting out intermitantly and then one of them altogether. It's a pain considering how much they cost. Are there any that are more durable then others?

Skullcandy are usually excellent and quite cheap, or so I find anyway.

At home, on ear, isolation, everything.

200 is stretching it a bit. Am I right in guessing Sony and Sennheiser are the best brands?

Sennheiser HD 280 Pro. They sound great for closed headphones. Around 100 euro from ebay.

Had a pair of these before, excellent headphones and a great price too.I think Sennheiser make better open headphones ,im not so mad about their closed versions, they can be uncomfortable as they rely on a clamping force to isolate. The Audiotechnias on the other hand fit like a glove due to the headband construction, its a great design.Sound quality wise i found them better than Sennheiser counterparts.

Over ear > On ear. I use Sennheiser HD201s to walk around with because I have a habit of rough treating them. Good because you'll get them under €30
