Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Rigid folder structure

In work all our clients folders are kept on our server. Every client has the same sub directory structure under their name.

However every now and then a folder is moved or deleted accidently. Is there a way I can lock the directory folders for each client so other employees cannot rename directory (or sub directory) or move it to a different location?

I still want other employees to be able to add or delete files from a folder.

    Thanks

It's a common problem. You may find it's the same person - and it tends to be just careless use of the mouse while navigating folder structures.

    My suggestion: belt them! :)

But seriously, an NTFS permissions system like the one you describe for a large number of folders would be difficult to implement.

I just make sure I have good backup records (and nightly disk to disk backups) so I can find what files are missing and where they were moved to.

I also don't have a free-for-all on the file share: each dept. has a folder, and the staff can only read / modify the dept. folders they need access to. That alone cut out a lot of the accidental deleting / moving etc.
