I'm looking at buying an MG ZR (tarted up Rover 25), anyone know who or where in town would be someways a specialist or good for work on Rovers/MG's.

I don't want to buy the car and find if theres any probs down the line that I have to travel miles to get work done on it.

    Any help appreciated.

Eddie Garry in Waterford used to be the MG/Rover Dealership, but since Rover went belly up there is no longer a dealership in Waterford/Ireland. I drive a Rover 214 myself, and I don't have any hassle with it, but you can bring it to any mechanic to get it serviced... etc doesn't have to be a dealership. There is no problem getting parts for them either!!!

Davy Duggan in Railway Square is a sound fella, I'd say he'd look after it ok for you.

Take my advice, just don't buy it.

No matter what your budget, you can find something better than a Rover 25.

If its the right price, because of negative comments like JOR these cars can be good value. Just don't know what the right price is though. Get timing belt and water pump done ahead of schedule (head gasket is main worry if pump leaks slightly)

You have first hand experience of problems with the MG ZR? What happened with yours?

They're a good wee car but hilariously prone to HG failure, the first sign is usually the heater matrix going I think ? AFAIK, every single one of them will suffer from it, it was a major engineering fault, Rover would never even release the figures of the amount of ZR's/25's sold versus the number of head gaskets sold ...
