Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Should be 6th place imo.

It's bad enough that Greedy Cardiff are getting a UEFA place if they win the cup, but if they get one for losing the final, then it's a joke.

It goes to the league i think unless thats just in the Carling Cup, if Spurs did not win it they would not have been in Europe next season

when the Cup-Winners-Cup was still going, the runners up in the FA Cup would go into it if the winners were already in the Champions League. Not so clear cut now you can qualify for the UEFA cup from either cup and from the league. IMO though runners-up should not qualify. Ultimately I think its at the discretion of the FA.

Milwall got into the UEFA as runners up of the FA cup a few years ago.

The qualification spot for an FA Cup win is considered superior to the spots awarded for a league finish and the Carling Cup.

If Pompey win the Cup and finish 5th, they will enter the Uefa Cup as FA Cup winners, and the league spot will be awarded to the highest placed team in the league that has not already qualified for Europe.

they were the last team to do so iirc, think theyve changed it so the runner up doesnt go through

I dont think West Ham got into the Uefa Cup after they were beat in the Final by Liverpool in 2006 all other times the runners up have been in the top 4 so the spot would have went to the League anyways

that was irrelevant as Liverpool went in to the CL

eh no it is relevant as it shows that even though liverpool didn't take the uefa cup spot they were entilted to it still wasnt given to the runners-up

As stated, if pompey win the FA Cup and finish 5th then 6th place will get a Uefa cup spot.

They did, knocked out by Palermo early on though - I remember it well cos one of the lads had them backed to win it, then they bought Tevez and Mascherano and he was sure he was going to win his 40/1 bet

Its so funny......Everton might not even get 5th now!!!!

If Pompey get 5th and Win the Cup, then Everton can go cap-in-hand to the FA and ask for the UEFA spot.

Then Liverpool can accuse them of getting special "small club" treatment, like the special "big club" treatment they got when UEFA obliged them in 2005 with a CL place.

    Mwahahaha!!!

Just how do you dig yourself into a relegation battle when you have Tevez and Mash in your side???? English managers are rubbish!!!

Wrong, the runners-up of the FA Cup take the Uefa Cup spot if the winners have qualified for the CL. That has not changed.

    Correct.
