Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. there should be a Liverpool : chelsea fans option on this !

Can't say i'm feeling very optimistic about the first leg, although I think the chelsea players may try to outwit our manager and win the game with a last minute Terry header / Ballack free kick.

    Yeah, but what about Liverpool?

Who were they "lethal" against on the counter so far?

    West ham? derby or someone?

Liverpool have scored more than Arsenal, Chelsea & Manchester Utd this season. Thank you, come again.

Here we go, zonal marking again.

Lads, let's get it out of the way to begin with.
Zonal marking is **** against big teams!
Rafa is going to lose today because he rotated the defence again, jesus christ like!!
The ref made biased decisions towards Liverpool.
I can't believe Lampards shot deflected in!

    ---

I think tonights game will be decided by the respective performances of the full backs and wingers. In the middle of the pitch, there is little between the teams.

    Joe Cole vs. Arbeloa
    Malouda vs. Aureilo
    Kuyt vs. Cole
    Babel vs. Ferreria

Chelsea imo win three of those battles, so I can see them having the better of it.

Great move by Rafa not to play Hyypia imo, Srektle gives them that extra bit of pace. How he deals with Drogba is the question though.

You've got to admit, the RTE guys are great entertainment :)

I think he shoulda used Hyppia, Skrtl seems pretty dodgy in the air and Drogba will be dealing with alot of high balls.

Jimmy Arnfield is not dead, he was very ill and I like his punditry on fivelive!

As for Bill, Garcias goal was a good one! If you tell a lie enough times some people will belive it.

Well it was implied, in 'the Kop influences the referee' crap. If that was true then Liverpool would win every game.

RTE should cut the pre-match stuff when there is only one game to cover.

I was actually referring to you saying the goal was a good one.

Anyway. I think I'll watch the first 10-15 mins of this and if it starts to shape up the way I expect it to, I'll be off to watch some Dexter.

Dunphy: Take Torres and Gerrard out and not one LFC player would make the Chelsea team.

Surely Mascherano would? Perfect replacement for the ageing Makalele.

Since they have only won once in the nine games they played against the other big four, im guessing those goals came against derby probably?

Yes , of course. In 2 games against Derby we've scored over 100 goals.

That was a penalty on Drogba.... clumsy tackle and Carragher got nowhere near the ball. And Ray houghton said it wasnt so none of this anti-Liverpool RTE nonsense!! ;)

EDIT: I see it was outside the box but it was a clear foul and Carragher was the last man...otherwise Drogbas was in...

    Damn it Torres.

Carra got the slightest touch on the ball.

Yes, peno. Just one problem, it was outside.

Doesnt matter where he lands, the foul was outside.

Well the initial foul was outside the box so twas only a free

Okay hadnt noticed. Was a foul though. Ill accept that though, but for Ray houghton to say it wasnt a foul is laughable.

poor decision. babel was most definately offside AND interfering with play.

    A lucky break for liverpool.

    How was he interfering?

That same thing happens all the time with the current rules.

Was the ball stationery when the quick free kick for the goal was taken?? I don't think so

Chelsea to come out storming second half and win 2-1 :)

Gooing a goal down is the best possible motivator for an away side in the knockout rounds.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

    Chelsea (Chelsea fans)
Oh it starts! Babel stopped dead and was therefore passive. :)

The story of that half was Chelsea started brighter, kept thier shape and closed down well, but as the clock ticked on they ceeded more space to Liverpool in the middle and a few chances started falling to them. Had they bus been parked furthur up the field then I reckon 0-0 it would still be.

    Mike.

By slowly walking away from the goal and making no attempt to go for the ball ?

Three words describe that half. ALONSO IS BACK. He has looked sharper than he has all season.

The goal says everything you need to know about Kuyt. Terrible technique on the initial cross, runs back and wins the ball, gets on the end of the scuffed shot and scores a goal. He is the hardest working player in football today.
