Brother had petol removed from a diesel Fiat Stilo when a pump attendant mistakenly filled e50 worth of petrol into his tank. (Mentioned in another thread) Three weeks later he can only fill about e10 to e15 max of fuel in the tank, looks like an airlock. The garage that siphoned the petrol out is taking the car back during the week. Is this a serious problem?

Petrol in diesel is always a big potential problem. I hope he didn't try to drive it like that. If so he could have more trouble than an airlock.

Is the fuel gauge reading correctly?

It may have become upset after the draining of the tank and read near empty even if the tank is almost full ...hence he can only put very little in.

Breather pipes coud also be faulty, causing the diesel to foam in the tank and switch off the pump ...but with a bit of patience you'd still be able to get more than 10 -15 litres of fuel in.

Any chance they collapsed the tank in if they used a pump to siphon it out ?
