Heating has died again, same issue that i paid someone 400 to fix 3 months ago :(

Basically water gets to this then doesnt go anywhere, its working ie making pumping noises. Last time the guy bled the rads and turned the screw in the centre of pic and some air came out and it worked (easiest 400 ever :( ) Said it was just an airblock and shouldnt happen again.

It did and i tried what he done but only drops of water come out, all the rads are bled but still no hot water moving out of main unit.

    Anyone any ideas?

When you remove the screw in the centre of the pic, is the shaft of the pump, which should then be visible, rotating? If not give it a twist with a screwdriver. (pump should be turned to ON of course)

If you are saying that the boiler is heating, but the water is not circulating, even though the pump is spinning, then there is probably a lack of water in the system, and it needs to be filled. Maybe there is a motorised valve somewhere controlled by a thermostat (and it has stuck). But most likely, it is a lack of water.

Do you have a closed (small red expansion cylinder) or open (tank in the attic) system? If it's closed, bleeding the rads would just let more air into the system unless the pressure is topped up, normally there's a valve connecting it to the mains.

In a closed system when u open the rads vents to bleed them the pressure goes to zero and no further air can enter the system because for it to mdo so the water must escape.

To the OP IMO u have a leak in the system: do u have a pressure gauge anywhere.

if the system is open eg 2nd plastic tank in attic then check to see of ballcock is stuck and stopping the uisce coming in, if a pressured/closed system with red cylinder etc then u should have a pressure gauge and a filling system.
in this case each time u run the system when the water heats up more is pushed our=t through leak, water not getting to pump hence noise: it will burn out if left run dry
