For an almost Completely silent Build

So let's say you wanted to passively water cool (or as passively as possible) a high spec rig. Lets say an overclocked e8400 plus some pc9200 and a 9800gtx or gx2 the nb maybe the mosfets voltage regulator. Go the whole hog. How much Rad would you need. I'd Really love to do something like this in the future if it's feasible.

you're never going to get a build completely silent, not yet anyway. You still have to have a pump to move water and i'm guessing you aren't going to be forking out for SSD drives just yet.

What you want is to get a system that has a lower dB than the ambient dB in your room.

With foam padding and rubber washers, you can have a nice quiet pump too, the noisiest thing in my pc at the moment is a 74G WD Raptor....

Zalman heat pipe cooler for hard drives.

Takes a bit of the sting out of a raptor.

Lowers the temps and reduces the noise of it nicely.

Mate got one originally, moved to a m-atx build and I stole it form him for a 150 gig raptor in my build.

Really does make a difference to noise.

Yeah I have it inside one of these ( http://www.cooltechpc.com/c/ctpc/std/sku=driveaway_black ) and I can still hear it tick away....

I don't mind anyway cause, it's only "loud" when im playing a game or whatever. :cool:

there are some affordable ones out there, not entirely economical though, use em as boot drive then have networked storage somewhere far away. Maybe.

I have this SSD... Windows XP SP2 installation = 4+ hours. I ended up putting it in a nice aluminium slim case and using it as an all-terrain flash disk
