Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I was thinking about murphy's law
When you're midnight call came in.
I'd spent a long time looking for this one kind
    of perfect, forgiveable sin.

In the morning when the sun came down,
    I couldn't figure out,
Why it didn't feel warm on my skin.

So I stayed up all night
    Flirting with the moonlight
Waiting for the right kind of love to shine in.

You can get back on your feet,
try to shake off the dust,
Think about climbing up to find someone to trust.

But it's a long way down.

I was thinking 'bout my broken jaw
when your note slipped through my hands.
You said you'd spent a long time waiting for the wrong guy,
To show you he could understand.

And as the rain came down,
    I couldn't figure out,
Why she can feel the raindrops but I can't.

So I stayed up drinking all night.
    Thought about the good times.
In the morning I went back to acting like a man.

You can get back on your feet,
try to shake off the dust,
Think about climbing up to find someone to trust.

But it's a long way down.

So you re-arrange the sentences and paint those good intentions
    on your face.
They'll find out the hard way one of these days.

You've come a long way now.
You've come a long way now.

I've been trawling through the disco bars,
and the nite club's lost and found.
I've spent a life time looking for that right kind of love
Though it only seems to get me down.

You've been having this dream where you're falling,
    You try to start calling,
But you can't bring yourself to make a sound.

I've been having this dream where I'm falling
and you can't hear me calling
but I wake up just before I hit the ground.

You've come a long way now.

painted pictures of places that i don't even know
hang on the wall beside him,
he's in a black and white photo.
as we tell stories of the people that we used to be
your smile, your breath, your kiss
    so soon becomes a memory.

it all comes and goes so fast.
sometimes i wish that it could last forever.

Long live the king, while he's sitting on my throne.
and long live the people who can make it on their own.
you're one more reason why i'm never coming home.

the constant changing seasons brings no shelter from the cold
or all the bitter drunken secrets that were better left untold.

You took your checkered shirt off
when there was nothing left to say,
only one thing left to do.
yeah, and you slipped that little skirt off
like you were giving up on something
you didn't really want to lose.
you warned me more than once that if we did this
you'd feel terrible in the morning,
you said "i'll feel like sh1t, you'll see".
i reassured you more than once,
told you "if you feel sh1t tomorrow,
    that's ok with me".

you let it all slip through your hands
now i bet you wish you'd made it last forever.

long live the king, dying on his throne.
and long live the people who can make it on their own.
i'm one more reason why he's never coming home.

the constant changing seasons brings no shelter from the cold
or all the bitter drunken secrets that were better left untold.

sometimes i wish that you'd never told me
    sometimes i wish that you'd never told...me
sometimes i wish that you'd never told
sometimes i wish that you'd never told

some nights i wonder if i'd always known
some nights i wonder if i'd always known
some nights i wonder if i'd always known
some nights i wonder if i'd always known

Long live the king, while he's sitting on my throne.
and long live the people who can make it on their own.
you're one more reason why i'm never coming home.

the constant changing seasons brings no shelter from the cold.

Try write the song that instead of writing the repeated line(s) in full just say (by 4). If you get most of your song on one page people will be more inclined to read it.
An indication of tune is helpful also. It moves it from a poem to lyrics.

And as the rain came down,
    I couldn't figure out,
Why she can feel the raindrops but I can't

Felt the lyrics flowed very well until it came to the "but I can't" part there. Not really sure why but it stuck out..

I'm far from an expert on the subject, just think that line should be changed

Never use the word 'moonlight' in a song though.

    +1

'Moonlight' generally leads down a cheesey road!
