Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Simple question here.

I got the premium Xbox for Xmas 2006. Totally forgot about the other connections on the scart lead until my housemate bought a HD tv the other day. What are the blue, green and red connections for?

They're for component video, which looks way better than scart but not as good as hdmi.

Not true, it's all down to the equipment being used and the individuals own personal tastes.

I asssume you're reffering to HDMI vs component. The jump from composite(which you are using now) to component should be considerable, use them if you can.

Yeah, HDMI vs component, not always a noticable difference. But obviously much better than composite.

Oh really? I was quoting from my TV manual which has a hierarchical diagram of connections putting hdmi on top, followed by component, then scart and finally the little yellow (composite?) cable. I assumed from this that there was a difference between hdmi and component. This place is great, you learn something new every day! :)

Well HDMI is better than component. But if you plugged them both into a decent TV and flicked between the two I'd be very suprised if you could notice any quality difference.

In that case, why the big hullabaloo over the HDMI sockets being included on the Pro console when they released it?

Some TVs only accept 1080p over HDMI and some people may find HDMI more convienent. But in reality alot of it was driven by manufacturers, people were being told HDMI was the be all and end all of connections therefore people wanted them.
