Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Am I mad?

I currently use an old 32" sony crt for my games. I am sick of the poor quality. So I am told that the PS3 looks awesome on a big HD LCD.

I have my eyes set on the new Samsung 40" A656. Trying to muster up the courage to drive up to powercity with my credit card.

It looks like I willl be spending approx €1700 on this game! (Including tv)

    :confused:;):rolleyes::o:o

To be honest, LCDs seem to be crap! I've gotten a 32'' over the weekend and now the screen keeps dimming every five mins...don't know if it's the PS3 or the HDMI cable as the 360 doesn't dim...

    32'' Beko HDTV.

Tried the SCART lead and it still dims. :(

Could be the scart. Have you tried a HDMI cable? Failing that, return the tv

Bah large fancy TV's are over rated. This can be sorted in two easy steps

1 -Size- Sit really close to the TV, sorted....
2 -Quality- After spending so long so close to a TV you won't notice and poor quality at all, or you won't notice anything for that, at all.....

Theres probably some kind of dynamic contrast feature adjusting the backlight, try turning it off.

Py2006 the previous models of that tv the le40m86/87 and the le40f86/88 have generally gotten excellent responses. I'm sure the new ones are even better but check the reviews carefully to see how much, the older ones will be on sale at much better prices now and the new ones may not be worth the difference.

How do I turn it off?

EDIT: I think I fixed it...anyone know what "DLC" means?

Well the one I am looking at has a 50,000:1 contrast ratio and a 4ms response time and they had one hooked up to a PS3 playing Spiderman on Blu-Ray in powercity the other day and the quality was phenominal.

i recently bought a sony bravia KDL-40W2000 in harvey's for €1289. it's not the newest tv but i'm very happy so far, no clouding issues at all, 1080p, loads of inputs, got a rating of 9.3/10 on CNET, and won which magazines product (not just tv) of the year in 2006.

the equivalent model in the X series (newest) costs about three grand at the moment

Wrong newer model is the KDL-40W3000

X is an entirely different monster all together. Sony tv's are rated as below

    U,P,S,D,V,W,X

    X being the best.

exactly, the X series came out after the W, the W3000 has very similar specs to my tv but with 3 hdmi ports instead of 2, picture is not as good though

Off thread really, but the older model certainly isn't better.

wanna bet?, my mate just bought the W3000 and i can notice the difference in picture clarity (and not i the "i troll the avsforums way"). just my opinion.

    anyhoo, both great tv's
