In no order, these might not be the best games I played, e.g. the original Half Life and Deus Ex should be on here somewhere, but these are the ones that stick in my mind as highlights even though they have in most cases been surpassed many times over since :
Looking at them the common theme (with the exception of RB6 which makes the list because of its multiplayer) is a sense of freedom and places to explore, I have played many games since which do it better, but these blazed the trail for me..

    Super Mario Brothers 3 (NES)
    Turrican (C64)
    Operation Flashpoint (PC)
    Rainbow 6 Vegas (XBOX360)
    Morrowind (PC)

    Body Harvest (N64)

The first 3d sandbox game made by rockstar, before gta3, its like stalker, fallout3, and gta all in one, with zombie elements, nuclear war, tanks, aliens, ufos, harrier jump jets. (edit 2) Oh yeah, and freaking time travel

Get on ebay now and get it, it is the best arcade shooter/puzzle survival ever for its day. (edit) and I don't think its been outdone yet for what it did.

    Goldeneye (N64)

Invented the realistic fps, all your cod4's etc. are around because of this game.

Hmm, I'll have to come back to this one and do the other 3 games, but BH is well worth playing on the hardest setting, an amazing game.
