Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Brake Calipers on Toyota Corolla

    Folks,

I have just got my 05 Toyota Corolla back from its 3 year service. There is about 22,00 miles on the clock.

I needed the brake pads replaced, but while they were replacing the pads, the toyota garage said the back brake calipers were seized up and had to be replaced, which was quite expensive.

Just wondering would anybody know, does that seem very unusual that brake calipers would seize up after only 22K miles. Garage checked with Toyota Ireland and car out of warranty by about 2 months, so they didn't want to know about it.

Don't know whether I should pursue the issue with Toyota.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

    thanks.

Go after them. Toyota certainly had major prblems with calipers on the landcruiser from 2003 to now. Same problem, caliper seizing. Given your low mileage and being just out of warranty, you to toyota ireland yourself. Dont just let the dealer say they will try cause they wont. Do all usual stuff... mention known problems on landcruisers. and that you wont dream of buying a toyota if this is the service offered on such a low mileage car. dont give in to them, there is obviously a problem with the calipers

This is a year out but came up when I did a search for brake calipers.

My 02 Corolla is currently in garage, has to get back left brake caliper replaced. Had car in garage a month ago for a service and they never mentioned anything about brakes being worn etc.

First of all, roughly how much of a bill should I prepare myself for? and secondly, would I have a leg to stand on if I said that the garage had neglected to notice worn brake pads at service a month ago - would/could that have led to the caliper seizing?

    thanks in advance
