Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    hello,

i'm having trouble with my dell vostro. evertime i try to view a video on youtube in full screen the display freezes and then goes black so i hit escape and get the following message "display driver atikmdag stopped responding and recovered" and it works ok then. i have tried updating drivers and updaing flash but it still happens. anyone else get this problem? tried googling but no help to me as most repsonses are quite complicated.

This seems to be a common problem in Vista. XP suffered from an identical problem in its early days (though XP would BSOD). I'm surprised a brand name PC would be doing it, for XP it was usually something like bad AGP settings or iffy drivers.

Is it a desktop or laptop?

it's a laptop. don't remember it happening until recently. i'm sure i watched full screen vids before. only noticed it in the last few days.

Any time I've seen this problem in Vista its been down to dodgy drivers, I was getting it on an NVIDIA SLI rig under x64 and in the end had to drop Vista from the PC to get it stable again.

Since you've already updated the drivers you might want to do a memory diagnostic just to rule out bad RAM, it might cause the problem especially if the laptop has shared video memory.

i seem to have fixed this. i uninstalled the driver and reinstalled it from the drivers cd i got with the laptop.

works now. interesting thing is the display adaptor no longer shows in device manager as ati radeon 1150 but express 200M.

i assume somewhere along the line i updated the driver and messed things up or how could it change like that?

Hmm, Windows Update may have offered a "better" driver? It's been known to happen, some people with Intel 4965 wireless adapters reported receiving a beta driver which crashed their laptops on shutdown!

that's very possible. at least i'll know what to if it happens again and narrow down what causes it. i wonder is it the same issue for eveyone! there seems to be a LOT of people out there trying all sorts of things to fix this to no avail (i've tried a lot of em) most people probably don't have the install cd and assume it's an 1150 driver as apposed to espress 200M (as in my case) as it's a bit deceiving.

problem again today. windows update picked up an update for the display driver so i said i'd ignore it for a while and see how i go. then left laptop on and left it and came back. all of a sudden the screen was flashing mental with screens like a c64 loading! i could just about click install the update and then rebooted and it seems ok now again

it is still express 200 and the vids work ok.

all seems a bit weird so im runnng a virus scan now
