The workers, the people whose efforts and labour helped create the Celtic Tiger, got the least ammount of reward from it. Now growth is slowing down (but still growing), we're being told to accept pay cuts while the people in charge award themselves massive pay hikes. Bollocks. The pay rises should at the very least track inflation, that's the bare acceptable minimum.

I've been in my job 16 months without a payrise, or a pay review.

    I'll take that 5% - 10% thanks.

The number of years of not getting any pay rises I must be on way less than when I started the job now once you add on inflation over the years, even if the actual figure appears to be larger than when I started.

I got a raise after 3 months in my present job! Granted, that just happened to be when the annual pay talks happen but still..

one of the many things that drive it, yes. but if my boss came to me and paid "sorry you can't have a pay rise. i don't want to drive inflation", i'd throw him out the window and rightly so.

i hear the thing that drives it is merchants increasing their prices
