Look at the stupid mistakes theyve made over the last weekend alone.

Honestly, who pays these guys? Oh wait - we all do!

Anyone else have any classic gaffs from them? :pac:

I don't. But if I did the first* thing I'd do is take some photos and post them here - because impotent anger is my thing.

Aertel doesn't use much error correction. The AERTEL communication protocol uses a tiny slice of the bandwidth allocated to TV signals. The data that the Teletext chip inside your TV recieves can be corrupted by noise/interference etc.

If your aerial is wonky, Gay Byrne will look wonky. Same with teletext.

This is unlike the internet -- information is guaranteed to be error-free, but the time it takes to transmit is not guaranteed! (anywhere from 1ms to 10 hours)

Analogue TV broadcasts live, continuously, with no regard to the signal integrity on the user's end. The transmission time is almost instantaneous from RTE's antenna!

I don't see what the problem is...

Does anyone actually want to point out the mistakes... are the scores wrong or something..?

I can see what's wrong with #2 (Rooney doesn't play for Barca last time i checked) but #1?

Also: I quite like aertel, i think it beats the crap out of the digital teletext services which take a week and a day to load up...

United were playing Barcelona, not Real Madrid.

To the best of my knowledge Aertel is now run as part of RTE online, 9-5 Mon to Fri excepting sports results and Lotto. Like rte.ie it is a mostly self funded, independently staffed commercial enterprise under the RTE umbrella. The sloppiness of the service should not necessarily be deflected towards the RTE newsroom but towards the dimwits at rte.ie and there's plenty of them in need of training in basic journalism, sentence structure and grammar. There again this could be aimed at most of the RTE newsroom also, not to mention the need to be able to talk succinctly, more a bonus than a necessity these days !!!

It's not called Errortel for nothing.

Makes it interesting. They're playing a game, trying to catch you out.

During the floods last year, they spelt the name of our local village and a local hotel wrong. :( We're insignificant
But I usually don't see too many mistakes on Aertel.
