    Here we go.

    4. Oakland Raiders - Darren McFadden (RB, Arkansas)

    **** you Al Davis

I'd have taken Dorsey, now he goes to KC and we get to face him twice a year. :( Plenty of opportunities to rub this decision in Al Davis's face if he's wrong about this.

How did Enda Kenny get on the panel?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,641 ✭✭✭kev_s88

man what are the Raiders doing drafting another RB.they have like 4 quality RBs already in Justin Fargas, Dominick Rhodes, LaMont Jordan and Michael Bush.Bush was only taken last year in the draft and now hes gonna be out....Al Davis (Raiders owner) really is clueless.McFadden isnt gonna get much play time in that team

Green Bay getting Brian Brohm at 56 pick is pretty good business. They'll be happy with that - some rated him as high as Ryan.

Watching this back now pick by pick on NFL.com - no surprises until Jonathan Stewart, really. Other than that the mock-drafters were all over it weeks ago.

Can I ask what might be a stupid question. how come there were only 31 picks in Round 1?

Patriots were stripped of their pick for filming defensive signals. I think.

Yeah but it's the COLTS and GB who are missing a pick

Patriots traded back in, and they traded out maybe. I dunno.

Teams trade picks all the time, for either players or other picks. Their scouting networks don't just focus on what their team wants, but on what other teams are likely to be needing aswell.

So if a team with 10th pick is pretty sure the player they want won't be picked by any teams behind them for the next few picks or maybe even a round or two, they can "trade down" as they say, to a team who need to "trade up", in order to get a player they really want and fear may get selected ahead of them.

    Simple example:

    Team A Offer:
    Their Round 1 Pick (27)
    Their Round 5 Pick (27)

    for

    Team B's
    Round 1 Pick (10)

Team B get an extra pick later on in the draft and will also not need to pay the guy they sign as much money (as where you're signed determines how much money you'll receive). Team A forfeit their round 5 pick, but get the player they need. They could also offer a player in exchange for a pick.

So with all this going on so frequently, the running order can get jostled quite significantly. The Pats were initially the team to be left out of round 1, but they traded up, other teams traded down. I think Kansas ended up with about 3 thousand picks in all...
