So, what is the story with the missing bees?
Sounds like a pointer for a series finale if ever there was one.

Of course it could be an attack by the Cy-ermen and giant killer Ro-ots, armed with missing constanants, namely the letter B, the cunning foes!!!

the bees really are missing in large parts of the USA

in some cases the hives dies in others just greatly reduced number of bess

It's obviously about Rose. Bees are attracted to flowers to collect pollen, right? And a rose is a flower? So bees and roses? Not only that, but then there's Billie Piper's "Honey to my bee" song too. Clearly it's all about Rose. Eugh.

Or is that we can see the forest because of the bees (or lack of them!) Maybe it's being dropped in so heavily because it's really mis-direction... or maybe it's a double bluff and that's what we're supposed to think!

Part of my all round geek/nerdiness.

I would like there to be a dr who 'Verse reason in relation to the bees but
then again it would be far cooler to have him baffled by it, I like the fact
the the curret and last dr have no problems saying 'Who knows or I don't know' and shrugging and smiling.

The best episodes are generally the ones where he doesn't know WTF is going on.

Well I reckon it's part of a meta-plot that'll reveal itself later on.
After the frankly awesome The Master stuff last season we can only guess how cool things are going to get this year.
Although the Sontaran ep did look a bit on the cheap side.

Yup, just don't know where the bee's themselves are going to fit on, what would cause their decline in the storyline, forgetting the realworld reasons for a moment, perhaps a insect attack on the way??? Although that does sound a bit muck, hmmm.....

It's hardly a spoiler though, just speculation. I tend to look on it on a par with the big revelation that Rose was coming back this year. The giant flying insect thing that attacks AC (next week I think) has been in every trailer since Chistmass so it's only a spolier if you have been ignoring everything about Who with admirable determination.

As for the Master, that actually went on for almost two years, and in the end was the biggest let down. If the bees are the big ending this year lets hope that we dont get another bloody re-set button ending, because that'll be a real sting in the tail.
