Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Was waiting around in a SEAT main dealers last week and was asking about the Leon 1.4tsi.
I understand that this model is the 125BHP Turbo model. BUT
The salesman and Head meachanic were saying that is is both turbo and Superchgarged and puts out 170bhp @6ooo rpm.
    Is this right?

    On another note.
I quite like to look of them and some reviews I have read,
    Has anyone here bought one?
If so what are your opinions ?
MPG ? I do mainly town driving and dont want to get robbed with low returns of mpg. :o

I don't think the 1.4(170bhp) version is available in the Leon yet, however the 1.4(125bhp) is in Sport Plus guise.

It would appear that we are due the 1.8 TSI 160 bhp engine in the Leon(the Germans are being offered this engine at any rate). That would contradict the notion of the 170 bhp 1.4 TSI unit being made available in the Leon IMO.

AFAIK the 1.4 TSI 170 is planned for fast versions of the next geneartion Polo, Ibiza and recently launched Fabia.

    Yes,
I was looking at it in the dealers ( Leon 1.4 tsi )
    THIS MODEL

What i was wondering is are they right in informing me it is turbo/supercharged.
    OR
Is it just turbo developing 125bhp ?

1.4 litre TSi, 122bhp version is turbo charged only.
1.4 litre TSi, 170bhp has both a turbo and supercharger.

Correct 1.4 TSi 140bhp and 170bhp both have a super charger the 125bhp only has turbo.

Thats what i said to the Salesman and Head Honcho but they assured me I was wrong.

    Hmm,
Tempts me to go to a different dealer if I am to buy.

Anyone got any "REAL" figures as to performance and MPG ?

Sounds like the garage don't know their own product. Can't find any mention of Seat using the Twin charger 1.4 TSI, only the single turbo unit so far.

I am in the market for a new car --I am having trouble making up my mind.
I came across a seat 1.4 tsi (125bhp) and was very impressed.
I did a lot of googling and found that they seem to give trouble.(Check the VW owners site).
A friend of mine had a jetta with the same engine and the turbo failed. He was lucky as it was a day out of warranty. He had to pay 200 euro(This would have been 2000--Yes 2k).
I really want this car as they are very economical (going by the heavier jetta) but major repair bills may be looming.
There is an online add in Dublin with someone already looking for an engine.
It's a hard decision (6 gears sport seats and suspension) all for 18k with scrappage.
Damn --I hope someone can give me positive info --Please--:)

Hi vectra--performance is very good even exceptional and they are very economical to run,I will ask my buddy about the mpg on Jetta but he's always saying how cheap on petrol it is. I will get exact mpg from him and post it.

I wonder is it the 160/170 bhp one that needs the engine? I havent heard of any 125's giving those problems?

As it happens I went off the idea of one.
I am now set on an Octavia Vrs Tdi

    Thanks for the input anyway
