    Interesting, a couple of points though. The sidewinder is a short range air to air missile though short range for it is probably beyond the maximum range for the police speed detector. Additionally, it is a heat seeking missile and so it is very very unlikly to have locked onto our police friend. And finally, I very much doubt that the RAF would allow a situation where a missile launch in the UK was only prevented by the quick thinking of a foreign pilot.....

    Apart from those few points it is a cool story.

    I'm pretty sure the Dutch don't have any Tornados .. just the Brits, the Italians and the Germans. The Dutch have all US fighters, F-16's IIRC. Also in a Tornado it's the back-seat guy, the navigator, who's in charge of the weapons, not the pilot.

    But apart from that .....
