What are the basics for starting up your own business? The business is a small shop. I'm trying to consolidate all the information into a checklist. Some obvious steps are:

    Registering your company name
    Registering with the Tax Office
Applying for a license to trade.
(Quite probably) Applying for a small business loan
    Renting a premises

Is there anything I'm forgetting? There's probably lots.

Three things that spring to mind (but there's probably more)

    (1) A business plan. You'll find it very hard to get any type of business loan without one

    (2) Opening up a business bank account

    (3) Looking into what type of insurances you would need for the shop.

Get a good accountant involved from the offset.

A decent accountant should save you the cost of their fees by offering good advice on profits extraction / what can or can't be charged to business / good commercial experience
