Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

can anybody who stayed in a new york hostel, preferably in a non dodgy area give their advice and experience with where they suggest to stay!

am heading over there with a few people on 27th of may for the summer and we need a hostel for three nights to find some irish people to go and shack up with to keep the costs down for us

any hostel review website i go through absolutely slates nearly all of them for problems ranging from bad area with muggings, bedbugs, unfriendly hostel staff, no hot water, bugs the list goes on

I stayed in Hostelling International, its on 103rd and Amsterdam i think. Its only a couple of mins walk from subway and was pretty cheap. The rooms were clean and the showers had hot water. There was no pub though so that makes getting to know people there a bit more difficult but there were irish bars not far away. The area seemed fairly safe as well. The staff were a bit disorganised but i've seen a lot worse.

It was grand as a place to stay...certainly not a great hostel but it was fine to rest the head!

Big apple hostel. less than 5 mins walk from times square. was only 20 dollars a night when i was there last in September. Probably 10 dollars more expensive in Summer months. I've stayed in it twice for 2 weeks each time and never had one problem. you have to show your card to get into the place so nobody can just walk in.

I stayed here aswell thought it was good theres a deli across the road aswell which i thought was nice, we got a few lads in here easy enough without paying as we where out in manhattan for a night, they have net acess which is handy.More than happy with them.If its a bank holiday make sure you book in advance.
