Edit: found the answer, they just auction them off if you don't reclaim the car within a certain time period.

not always true I know a cop who took a car off a guy for driving without tax insurance no vrt who then couldnt afford the import duty and impound bill etc. guess who is driving around in the car now after the car never making the auction and the impound charge dropped all that was paid was the vrt

If you don't claim the car it sits until it is disposed of by crushing etc ITS now do it for the Guards

I can't guess. Who? Go on, tell us...

EDIT: Isn't it CUSTOMS/REVENUE who seize cars for no VRT, with the Gardai seizing cars for no insurance/tax? Which one seized the uninsured/untaxed/unVRTed car you're refering to? And what EXACTLY was it seized for?

Does the driver personally get charged with anything? If your car gets siezed and you don't claim it or anything, what happens to you?
