Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Sony HT-DDW890 / LCD TV / NTL box setup query

I'd really appreciate some help with this - obviously a bit of a noob setting these things up! I’m trying to set up my new Sony HT-DDW890 home cinema kit with my LCD TV (KDL-40W2000) and NTL box. I can’t seem to get it to work. Basically trying to get all sound going through the sound system amp. Is the following approach…

I'd really appreciate some help with this - obviously a bit of a noob setting these things up! I’m trying to set up my new Sony HT-DDW890 home cinema kit with my LCD TV (KDL-40W2000) and NTL box. I can’t seem to get it to work. Basically trying to get all sound going through the sound system amp. Is the following approach right?

1). I connect the TV to the amp via a HDMI cable. See Image1 the red highlights where I’ve plugged it in. The image Image2 (red) shows where it’s connected in the amp.

2). I ‘m basically connecting the amp to the NTL cable box by scart / phono (rca?) cable (scart one end, 3 phono cables the other). See Image3 (red) – the red block signifies that this is the scart end.

No picture. What in the name of jebus am I doing wrong?! Is this the right approach – feed the NTL box through the amp to the LCD? Is it the HDMI connection to the TV that is the problem (i.e. doesn’t recognize there is a HDMI connection) – I previously had the NTL box connected to the TV via scart, see Image1 where the green highlighted box is where the scart goes)?

I’ve tried to explain this as best I can. How can it be so complicated?
