Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

DVD Camcorder & DVD Editing

    Firstly, I apologise if I've posted in the wrong place. . . . :confused:

    I'm wondering if anyone can help? I want to make a short video and am about to buy a Sony dvd camcorder. I went looking a year ago and the guy in the shop said that the dvd's could not be edited...A year on, I see software such as Easy Media Creator Suite by Roxio.

    Basically, I'd like to know the following if possible please;
    -If I buy dvd camcorder can I buy software so the videos can be edited?
    -If so, what software should I buy, and where can I get it?
    -I have a sony vaio laptop that dvd's can be used on- would my laptop be compatable & could I burn the videos to dvd's on it?!

    Any help at all would be appreciated!

    Thanks :)

    Yes you can, but you'd be better off buying a miniDV camera. Better quality pictures, less expensive, and easier to edit (no conversion necessary). (Better, Faster AND Cheaper - a rare combinatoin)

    If you insist on a DVD camera for some reason, you could use a free utility called MPEG Streamclip to convert your files to a more edit friendly format (such as DV).

    Yes. You might want to buy a copy of Toast Titanium for your DVD burning.

    You are probably better off with the DV option alright. As far as I know the DVD cams use a compression to write to DVD which is of lesser quality and less edit options than the DV tape option. Correct me if I'm wrong.

    Right. DV compression is about 5:1, but mpeg2 (DVD) compression is much higher (meaning far less picture information recorded).
