Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Made a spit of a showereen here around half an hour ago that didn't even register in recorder (i.e less than 0.1mm), not exactly the most dramatic breakdown after 2 weeks plus of heat and drought. :(

Very windy here this morning, gusting over 30mph (even on my dodgy anemometer!). This is not refelceted at Casemnet so must be a relatively local thing?

Same as yesterday without the bright and gusty bit.

Yes, hope it makes it here, the garden could do with it. Looks like its making slow progress east. Hitting Waterford around now. mike65 - is it heavy there??!

Snowbie, was going to post this on the "Cloud Thread" but the quality is a bit ****e due to bad light. Could you explain this type of cloud please? It has been occuring here since morning:

    DSC00429.jpg

Was shopping in Claremorris earlier this afternoon and it was raining quite steadily and heavily there (10 miles west north west of here), but very little here (1.5mm since midnight), with that type of cloud structure in the pic dominating all day.

Looks more impressive in the actual than on the photo, but a quick talk through would be appreciatied, thanks:)

Thats a nimbostratus. Continuous rain or snowfall with this cloud ahead of a warm front or occuluded front. As it looks to be bordering on height with an altostratus, you can see the rain shadow in the background. The base of Nimbostratus can range from a few hundred feet (at the passage of the front)to 6500 feet a couple of hundred miles in advance of the front.

Very hard to capture a NS without rainfall obscuring it, but you done a good job and one i will use for an example in the cloud gallery.

Now 13.6C with a few drops of rain a while ago but not enough to even slightly wet the ground.

Thanks Snowbie. The same cloud type is still here, made a heavy though brief shower at around 6.45pm, but the clouds remained the same! with no siteing of any lower cloud at all! Most odd.

Currently 11.4c with a brisk breeze and the odd spit.

Grabbed another 4.1mm of rain in that last shower. Not as short and sharp as the earlier one, but more prolonged and only moderate at best. Total today now at 17.6mm, my wettest day of the month.

I reckon it will be at least double that along parts East Galway/West Roscommon border today as the most intense showers seem to have ran up there.

    Cool and gloomy out now.
